A cool upper trough of low pressure will persist over the south coast mountains today maintaining cloudy skies and scattered flurries over the Alpine area today. A very weak ridge of high pressure will develop over the region Monday and support dry conditions for the end of the long weekend.
However there is an increasing chance of precipitation Monday night as a weak Pacific front moves onshore.

A 990 millibar low is developing offshore and will approach later today / early tonight from the southwest. Ahead of the low southeast winds are forecast to develop off the west coast of Vancouver Island this morning rising to storm force this evening. By this evening, precipitation is expected through the Inner South coast as well good alpine snow accumulations overnight.

Freezing levels will be unseasonably low for the period.

A Pacific front will approach the region on Wednesday bringing wet conditions. Freezing levels are forecast to drop in the wake of the front on Thursday and Friday with flurries expected in the alpine.

A ridge of high pressure will persist over the South Coast from today into Wednesday.

The ridge over the South Coast will break down late Wednesday allowing a Pacific frontal system to move across the region on Thurday. Behind the front a weak ridge of high pressure will build onto the South Coast on Friday giving some sunny breaks although unstable conditions will still result in flurries developing over alpine areas. Another frontal system will push onto the BC coast on Saturday.

A weak front will dissipate over Vancouver Island today as a ridge of high pressure begins to build over the South Coast. Clouds and a chance of flurries will likely persist through the morning but the building ridge will produce some clearing by this afternoon. The ridge will continue to build tonight and will bring a very nice day on Saturday with sunshine and mild temperatures.

A cold front will reach the coast on Sunday night bringing snow by Sunday evening and will usher in a much colder and snowy pattern that would be typical of mid winter. A weak ridge of high pressure will build in the wake of the cold front on Monday with temperatures remaining relatively cold. The next Pacific front will move in late Tuesday but with little in the way of warm air, leading to more snow and a low freezing level. The period from Monday onwards is shaping up to be the coldest we have seen since December.

A ridge of high pressure will build over the South Coast today in the wake of the weak front that moved through the coast last night.

This will bring a drying trend today with at least a partial clearing expected. The ridge will move to the east on Thursday, giving way to a front approaching from the Pacific. The front will be weak and will tend to dissipate as it arrives over Vancouver Island but it is still expected to produce some clouds over the area on Thursday with a slight chance of precipitation by Thursday night.

The front will dissipate over Vancouver Island on Friday leaving the area with just clouds and a slight chance of precipitation early Friday morning. Then a ridge of high pressure will begin to build over the South Coast leading to an improving trend for the remainder of Friday and a very nice day on Saturday with sunshine and mild temperatures. A cold front will be approaching the coast on Sunday, likely bringing precipitation in the latter part of the day and bringing cooler air early next week.

A weak ridge of high pressure over the South Coast will give generally dry conditions to the region this evening. A frontal system approaching Vancouver Island will spread snow. For Friday this system will result in rain at lower elevations and snow at higher elevations and amounts are expected to be quite significant.

On Saturday another impulse from the Pacific will result in showers or flurries. Meanwhile the airmass will remain unstable on Sunday and scattered precipitation is expected and a sunny break cannot be ruled out. By Monday yet another system will advance bringing some precipitation to the area by evening. Latest indications suggest the most significant precipitation from this system will hold off until Monday night.

An intense Pacific front has spread rain and gusty southeast winds to the South Coast mountains overnight. Rain and snow will taper off this morning as the front crosses the area.
Cooler and drier air will move in behind the front this afternoon.
A ridge of high pressure will hold over the region Monday giving drier conditions although cloud will increase ahead of the next disturbance in the afternoon and some flurries are possible Monday evening.

A cold front will bring more precipitation Tuesday and an upper ridge will begin to build for Wednesday near the west coast.
This will result in drier conditions as freezing levels rise on Thursday. Low level easterly flow however will develop on Friday as conditions remain fairly dry allowing freezing levels to ease off slightly for the latter part of the week.

A slow moving and weak frontal system off Vancouver Island will generate clouds and light rain or snow across the South Coast mountains tonight but accumulations or winds are expected to be light. The front will finally move inland Saturday morning bringing an increase in precipitation rates and a few centimetres of snowfall accumulation over the higher elevations. Precipitation will taper off later in the day as the front moves eastward.

A broad slow moving trough of low pressure will produce a few flurries over the region on Sunday. Conditions will become slightly cooler and drier on Monday. After Monday computer guidance is suggesting a series of frontal systems moving up from the southwest but precise timing and intensity of the systems is uncertain at this point.

An intense low pressure system is moving across the South Coast this morning bringing some precipitation and very strong winds today. A second low will approach from the southwest overnight spreading more precipitation over the region on Tuesday.

A broad trough will persist over the northeast Pacific with a series of weak frontal systems moving onto the South Coast through Thursday. The main storm track will move south of the region by Friday leading to cooler and drier conditions.

.An intense front will stall over the South Coast mountains today and tonight. The mild and moist southwesterly flow associated with the front has brought freezing levels up and the heavy precipitation will fall as rain except over the high alpine. The front will move inland early Tuesday with lighter precipitation and a cooler airmass in its wake.

On Wednesday a disturbance will push northeastward through Western Washington to lie over the Southern BC Interior in the afternoon. Another frontal system will move northwards offshore on Thursday with an associated warm front brushing the Inner South Coast. This system will slide southwards along the coast on Friday spreading precipitation to the South Coast mountains.
