Olympic storm
A frontal system will approach the region this evening bringing more precipitation and rising freezing levels. A trailing low pressure centre will track across Vancouver Island from the south overnight giving strong southerly winds. Precipitation will ease in the wake of the low Friday morning but another front will spread precipitation into the South Coast mountains Friday afternoon.
A series of frontal systems will move across the South Coast over the weekend bringing some heavier precipitation. A general drying trend will begin on Monday as a ridge of high pressure returns to the region.

Alpine temperature steady near minus 2.
Freezing level steady near 1400 metres.
Mountain top winds southeast 50 to 70 km/h increasing to 60 to 90 km/h overnight.
Friday..Snow ending early in the morning then redeveloping in the afternoon.
Snowfall accumulation 5 to 10 cm.
Alpine temperature steady near minus 5.
Freezing level lowering to 900 metres in the morning then rising to 1200 metres in the afternoon.
Mountain top winds becoming southwest 30 to 50 km/h in the morning decreasing to light in the afternoon.
