Breaks this afternnon

An intense Pacific front has spread rain and gusty southeast winds to the South Coast mountains overnight. Rain and snow will taper off this morning as the front crosses the area.
Cooler and drier air will move in behind the front this afternoon.
A ridge of high pressure will hold over the region Monday giving drier conditions although cloud will increase ahead of the next disturbance in the afternoon and some flurries are possible Monday evening.

A cold front will bring more precipitation Tuesday and an upper ridge will begin to build for Wednesday near the west coast.
This will result in drier conditions as freezing levels rise on Thursday. Low level easterly flow however will develop on Friday as conditions remain fairly dry allowing freezing levels to ease off slightly for the latter part of the week.


Today..Snow easing to flurries this morning. Afternoon sunny breaks.
Snowfall amount 5 cm.
Alpine temperatures falling to minus 5.
Freezing level near 1500 metres falling to 1100 metres this afternoon.
Mountain top winds southeast 60 gusting 80 km/h shifting to southwest 30 gusting to 50 this morning and 10 to 20 this afternoon.

Tonight..Partial clearing this evening.
Snowfall amount nil.
Alpine low minus 9.
Freezing level falling to valley bottom.
Mountain top winds light.

Monday..A mix of sun and cloud. Flurries developing in the evening.
Snowfall amount up to 2 cm.
Alpine high minus 5.
Freezing level 1200 metres.
Mountain top winds becoming southerly 30 gusting 50 km/h.

Tuesday..Periods of snow.
Snowfall amount 5 to 10 cm.
Freezing level 1300 dropping to 1000 metres.

Wednesday..A mix of sun and cloud.
Freezing level 1200 metres.

Thursday..Mostly sunny.
Freezing level 1400 metres.
