Warm southwesterly flow

A warm southwesterly upper flow has established itself over the south coast. Freezing levels will continue to climb. The next frontal system is expected to bring rain as it moves onshore overnight.

Tonight..Mainly cloudy. Rain beginning overnight.
Rainfall amount 5 mm.
Alpine temperature steady near 2.
Freezing level rising to 2500 metres by morning.
Mountain top winds rising to south 30 gusting to 50 km/h.

Friday..Periods of rain.
Rainfall amount 20 to 30 mm.
Alpine high plus 6.
Freezing level 3000 metres.
Mountain top winds rising to south 60 gusting to 90 km/h in the morning diminishing to south 40 gusting to 60 in the afternoon.

5 Day Trend..Rain will taper to showers and freezing levels will begin to lower on Saturday as the front moves inland. A weak ridge of high pressure will give a break in the wet weather briefly on Sunday before another weak low pressure system approaches the coast on Monday.
