More snow for the alpine

A ridge of high pressure building across the South Coast will give mainly sunny and dry conditions today. A pacific frontal system will approach the South Coast tonight and then give snow through Thursday.

Today..Sunny with cloudy periods.
Alpine temperature high plus 1.
Freezing level rising to 1700 metres.
Mountain top winds light and variable.

Tonight..Increasing cloudiness. Snow developing overnight.
Alpine temperature steady near minus 3.
Snowfall accumulation 5 cm.
Freezing level 1400 metres.
Mountain top winds becoming southerly 20 km/h.

Thursday..Periods of snow.
Alpine temperature steady near minus 1.
Snowfall accumulation 10 to 15 cm.
Freezing level 1500 metres.
Mountain top winds southwest 20 to 40 km/h.

5 Day Trend.. A northwesterly flow will bring a few flurries on Friday.
A cold low will drop across the south coast followed by a strong ridge building down from the north on Saturday. The ridge will further build on Sunday giving blustery winds but mainly a big sunny warming trend.

Friday..Cloudy with sunny periods. A few flurries.
Snowfall accumulation 5 cm.
Freezing level 1500 metres.

Saturday..A mix of sun and cloud. 40 percent chance of flurries. Windy.
Freezing level 1000 metres.

Sunday.. Sunny. Windy at times.
Freezing level rising to 2500 metres.
