Ridge of high pressure building

A ridge of high pressure building over the south coast will bring mainly sunny skies to the south coast mountains today and Saturday. However, a weak disturbance to the north of the area will bring some cloud across the region from time to time.

Today..Sunny with cloudy periods.
Alpine high 8.
Freezing level 2300 metres.
Mountain top winds southeast 30 to 50 km/h this morning becoming light and variable this afternoon.

Tonight..Cloudy periods.
Alpine low plus 2.
Freezing level 2500 metres.
Mountain top winds light and variable.

Saturday..Sunny with cloudy periods.
Alpine high 8.
Freezing level 2300 metres.
Mountain top winds light and variable.

5 Day Trend..The ridge of high pressure continues to hold across the south giving dry and warm conditions through the period. However systems to the north of the region will continue to brush the south coast with occasional cloudy periods.
