Westerly flow developing

The ridge of high pressure giving dry conditions will weaken today. A weak cold front will slump across the south coast tonight bringing a few showers and a cooling trend tonight through Friday morning. Gusty northerly winds will follow the cold front on Friday as a clearing trend develops.

3 to 5 Day Trend..Changes in the weather pattern will bring a series of disturbances for the weekend. The first weak system will bring flurries that will end Friday morning with partial clearing expected Friday afternoon. A stronger disturbance will approach the region on Saturday bringing flurries. A third disturbance will come through on Sunday bringing more snow and a cooling trend.

Today..Increasing cloudiness in the morning with 30 percent chance of flurries or showers this afternoon.

Mountain top winds south 30 gusting to 50 km/h easing to 20 in the afternoon.

Tonight..Cloudy with 60 percent chance of flurries overnight.

Friday..Flurries ending in the morning then partial clearing.

Mountain top winds northerly 40 gusting 70 km/h easing late in the day.

Saturday.. Cloudy with sunny periods. Snow developing late in the day.
Snowfall accumulation 2 to 4 cm.
Freezing level 800 metres.

Sunday..Periods of snow.
Snowfall accumulation 4 to 8 cm.
Freezing level 800 metres.

Monday.. cloudy with sunny periods. A few flurries developing.
Snowfall accumulation 3 to 5 cm.
