Warm front

A strong warm front will cross the south coast mountains late this afternoon. The front will direct a plume of mild and very moist air towards the south coast mountains through Wednesday resulting in heavy precipitation and rising freezing levels.

Today..Snow.
Alpine high minus 2.
Snowfall accumulation 5 to 10 cm.
Freezing level surface.
Mountain top winds southwest 30 to 50 km/h increasing this afternoon to 60 to 80 km/h.

Tonight..Snow heavy at times.
Alpine temperature steady near minus 2.
Snowfall accumulation 15 to 20 cm.
Freezing level surface.
Mountain top winds southwest 60 to 80 km/h diminishing overnight to 40 to 60.

Wednesday.. Periods of snow. Alpine temperature steady near minus 1. Snowfall accumulation 5 to 10 cm.
Freezing level 1400 metres.
Mountain top winds southwest 40 to 60 km/h diminishing near midday to 30.

Thursday.. Cloudy.
60 percent chance of flurries.
Snowfall accumulation trace to 1 cm.
Freezing level 1000 metres.
Friday.. Cloudy with sunny periods. 30 percent chance of flurries.
Snowfall accumulation trace.
Freezing level surface.
Saturday.. Periods of snow.
Snowfall accumulation 1 to 3 cm.
Freezing level surface.

5 Day Trend.. The front will slump south of the region on Thursday bringing a drying trend and lowering freezing levels. A high pressure ridge will maintain dry conditions on Friday. A weak front will bring precipitation and rising freezing levels back to the area on Saturday.
