A strong warm front

A strong warm front moving towards the coast will bring significant snowfall amounts to the south coast mountains today.
Freezing levels will rise through the afternoon with snow changing to rain over the northshore mountains this evening. The front will move east of the region overnight. A moist northwesterly flow aloft will bring scattered flurries to the coast on Monday.

Mountain top winds southwest 30 gusting to 50 km/h.

Tonight..Snow.
Alpine temperature rising to minus 6.
Snowfall accumulation 5 to 10 cm.
Freezing level valley bottom increasing to 800 metres overnight.
Mountain top winds southwest 30 gusting to 50 km/h increasing to southerly 60 to 80 km/h this evening then becoming southwest 30 to 50 km/h overnight.

Freezing level 800 metres increasing to 1200 metres in the afternoon.

Wednesday.. Snow.
Snowfall accumulation 20 to 30 cm.
Freezing level 1800 metres.

Thursday.. A mix of sun and cloud.
Snowfall accumulation trace to 1 cm.
Freezing level 1200 metres.
