Cold front tonight

A cold front will cross the south coast tonight bringing snow and cooler temperatures. Flurries will end Sunday as a ridge of high pressure begins to build in from the west.

Tonight..Periods of snow.
Alpine temperature falling to minus 4.
Snowfall accumulation 5 to 10 cm.
Freezing level 1000 metres.
Mountain top winds southwest 40 km/h.

Sunday..Flurries tapering off during the day.
Alpine temperature minus 4.
Snowfall accumulation 2 to 5 cm.
Freezing level near valley bottom in the morning rising to 1000 metres in the afternoon.
Mountain top winds west 30 km/h.

5 Day Trend..A warm front will sweep across the south coast early Tuesday. Rising freezing levels will result in rainy weather in the alpine on Tuesday. A cooling trend will set in on Wednesday with freezing levels near mid-mountain as a front stalls over or near the south coast.

Monday.. Mainly cloudy. 30 percent chance of flurries.
Snowfall amounts trace.
Freezing level near valley bottom in the morning rising to 800 metres in the afternoon.

Tuesday.. Periods of rain.
Rainfall amounts 5 to 10 mm.
Freezing level 2200 metres.

Wednesday.. Periods of snow.
Snowfall accumulation trace to 10 cm.
Freezing level 1200 metres.
