Lingling hits alpine

A Major Storm Will Be Moving Through The Area Today With Heavy Precipitation And High Winds. The Snow Level Will Rise Through The Day But Will Not Go Above The Treeline Leading To Heavy Snow In The High Alpine. The Freezing Level Will Drop Again Tonight And Will Remain Fairly Low Through Friday With Moderate Snowfall Expected.

A very vigorous storm system incorporating the remnants from tropical storm lingling will move through the south coast today.

Today..Snow Beginning Early This Morning Then Becoming Heavy This Afternoon.
Alpine High Zero.
Snowfall Accumulation 15 To 25 Cm.
Freezing Level 1000 Metres Lowering To Near Valley Bottom This Morning Then Rising To 1800 Metres Late This Afternoon.
Mountain Top Winds Southeast 40 To 60 Km/H Rising To 70 To 100 Km/H This Afternoon.
Tonight..Periods Of Snow.
Alpine Low Minus 3.
Snowfall Accumulation 10 To 15 Cm.
Freezing Level Lowering To 1500 Metres.
Mountain Top Winds Veering To Southwest 60 To 80 Km/H This Evening Then Easing To 30 To 40 Km/H Overnight.
Friday..Periods Of Snow.
Alpine High Minus 1.
Snowfall Accumulation 5 To 10 Cm.
Freezing Level 1500 Metres.
Mountain Top Winds Southwest 20 To 40 Km/H.

5 Day Trend..Some Clearing Is Expected On Saturday As Ridge Of High Pressure Reaches The South Coast. The Next Frontal System Will Arrive On Sunday And Will Be Accompanied With A Strong Warming Trend And Rain. The Rain Will Taper Off On Sunday With The Freezing Level Continuing To Climb.
